MADISON (WKOW) -- Badgers Head Coach Gary Andersen, and our very own Brian Olson helped kick off American Heart Month on Tuesday.
A luncheon inside Camp Randall Stadium raised awareness for heart health, and served as a preview for the upcoming Heart Ball fundraiser, benefiting the American Heart Association.
This years chair of the Heart Ball has seen the benefit of these fundraiser's first hand.
Billy Van Wie says, "My wife and I got involved because we had a 5 day old daughter that had open heart surgery and we saw the benefit of the research and where this money is going to help kids, young and adults, and grandparents."
In the past 5 years, the American Heart Association has invested more than $14 million in research grants to Wisconsin institutions.
The Madison Heart Ball is set for this Saturday and will include, dinner, a live auction, music and dancing.
