VERONA (WKOW) -- A campaign is growing on Twitter to arrange a meeting between a local teen and NBA superstar LeBron James. The hashtag #LeBronMeetEbony is trending on the social network.
Ebony Nettles-Bey is a junior at Verona High School. She was diagnosed with stage four cancer and told she would have to give up playing the game she loves, but Ebony refused to sit it out. 27 News first shared her story on Monday and her courage now has people wanting to pay it forward.
Similar Twitter campaigns have worked out in the past. The social network helped McFarland teen Aly Wolff meet pop star Justin Bieber, before she died from cancer last year.
