JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- A Beloit man was arrested for stealing a car only a few hours after being released from Rock County Jail.
Rock County Sheriff officials say around 5:45 a.m. Sunday, 20-year-old Michael L. McThune stole a car from West Burbank Avenue. The victim had been warming her car in her garage and realized it was missing.
Minutes later, a Rock County deputy located the vehicle in Beloit Township. McThune tried to flee, driving at speeds around 100 miles per hour. McThune eventually crashed and then attempted to run away before officials caught him.
Rock County Sheriff's Office says investigations show Michael McThune had been released from the Rock County Jail about two hours before the incident.
