Bluegrass concert benefits United Way

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Bluegrass fans enjoyed a special concert Sunday that brought a number of Madison-area bands together for a good cause.

The annual United Way Bluegrass Benefit was held at The Barrymore Theatre in downtown Madison. The family-friendly event raises money for programs led by the United Way of Dane County. Organizer Dave Kinney says the concert is more than just a fundraiser.

"The United Way is about building community," says Kinney. "Having an event where people get exposed to the United Way message is very important as well."

This is the 13th year of the Bluegrass Benefit concert. Local bands donated their time to play at the concert, including Off the Porch Bluegrass Band, The Oak Street Ramblers, and Daylight in the Swamp.
