MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Democratic state Representative Jon Richards is scheduled to take questions from a panel of reporters about his candidacy for Wisconsin attorney general.
The 50-year-old is one of three Democratic candidates. He has served in the Assembly since 1998 and was the assistant minority leader from 2003 to 2007.
He's scheduled to address reporters and community members Wednesday in Milwaukee.
On Monday he started a petition calling on the state Department of Justice to stop defending the state's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. He says he believes in marriage equality and if elected he won't defend the ban.
The other Democratic candidates are two district attorneys: Ismael Ozanne in Dane County and Susan Happ from Jefferson County. The only Republican candidate is Brad Schimel, the district attorney in Waukesha County.
