Posted: Updated:
WAUSAU (WKOW) -- The City of Wausau has adopted a ban that will prohibit drivers from using hand-held cellphones while driving.

The City Council passed the new ordinance on Tuesday. The ban will prohibit drivers from using hand-held electronic devices, but will allow hands-free calling.
GPS devices will also be allowed in the vehicle, as long as the destination has been set beforehand.

According to The Daily Herald Media, violators will receive a $40 fine.

City Council members say the ordinance is receiving positive feedback from residents.
