Janesville police look for driver who hit pedestrian

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Janesville police are looking for the driver who hit a pedestrian on Highway 51 Wednesday evening.

Around 6:18 p.m., police say Darren K. Hayes was walking on the roadway in the southbound lanes of South Highway 51 when he was hit by a vehicle. Hayes told police he didn't see the vehicle, but it continued southbound without stopping.

Hayes has a substantial injury to his leg, but was able to dial 911 from his cell phone. He was not able to move from the road until police and paramedics arrived.

There is no vehicle description at this time, but anyone who might have information that would help is encouraged to call the Janesville Police Department at (608) 755-3100.
