Wisconsin toddler rescued from ball return machine at bowling alley

Posted: Updated:
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) -- A toddler who wandered down a lane at a Wisconsin bowling alley and was pulled into a ball return machine is rescued by one of the alley's employees.
Leader-Telegram reports (http://bit.ly/MOaL5R ) employee Andy Gardner was on his way out the door after his shift last weekend when he heard some bowlers shouting.
Gardner saw the boy head down the lane and cross a laser that triggers a mechanized bar that swoops down to clear the pins. The bar pulled the child along with the pins into the ball pit.
Gardner ran down the lane and turned off the machine, saving the child from harm. The boy was led back to his parents, who thanked the employee and apologized.
