Dane County unveils first of its kind vehicle

Posted: Updated:
DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Dane County officials unveil a first of its kind vehicle to be used in Wisconsin. The compressed natural gas powered snow plow is latest edition to the county's fleet.

Officials say the vehicle's renewable energy source will actually come from decaying garbage from the Dane County landfill.

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi says, "We've just awarded a contract with a local firm Baker Tilly to create a strategic plan for us to be able to convert the entire county fleet of not only snow plows but all other vehicles that we use by 2023."

County officials say the switch will save them thousands of dollars on its fuel and maintenance costs.
