DODGEVILLE (WKOW) -- A southern Wisconsin mayor announced Saturday he plans to run for a Wisconsin state Assembly seat in the fall election.
Dodgeville Mayor Todd Novak says he'll run for the 51st District as a Republican in fall.
Novak was elected mayor of Dodgeville in 2012 and spent 24 working for The Dodgeville Chronicle.
"The State of Wisconsin must move forward and we can't return to the days of billion dollar state budget deficits and double digit property tax increases," Novak says in a statement Saturday.
Howard Marklein, now running for state Senate, currently represents the 51st district.
