Madison Street Dept. crews working to clear roads

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Plow trucks are working to clear roads as the snow accumulates Monday.

The Madison Streets Department says street crews were dispatched as soon as the snow started. They will be salting and plowing the main arterials, main connector streets, Madison Metro Bus routes and areas around hospitals throughout the duration of the storm. The department will also have a couple of trucks dedicated to sand to help with immediate slippery conditions.

The Streets Division will have 30 trucks working when the storm starts. It will add 30 more trucks if needed to keep the main streets open.

The City of Madison warns the timing of the snowfall could affect the morning and evening commute.

Once the city reaches three inches of snow, crews will start working on residential streets.
