UPDATE: Teen kept in basement testifies about sexual assaults, beating

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison teenager who was confined to a basement over a period of years by her father and stepmother, testified Tuesday her stepbrother sexually assaulted her and beat her.

The now 17-year old girl testified during the trial of 20-year old Joshua Drabek that Drabek tried to sexually assault her, when she was nine years old.

Haltingly at times, the girl also testified Drabek had her perform a sex act on him, when she was thirteen.

The teen said she was afraid she would get in trouble if people learned what happened. The girl testified she did reveal the earlier incident to her father, Chad Chritton and her stepmother Melinda Drabek Chritton, but they did not believe her.

The girl also testified Drabek hit her repeatedly with a whiffle ball bat, and as a result of a struggle and an attempted escape from the attack, the teen suffered a scar to her stomach.

Drabek is facing several charges, including child sexual assault, and child abuse.

During cross examination, the girl conceded she's also denied Drabek tried to force her into sex.

Judge Julie Genovese dismissed a trial juror Tuesday, after learning the juror had referenced the case during a call with a friend during a trial break.

Drabek's trial is expected to continue into next week.

Chritton and Drabek-Chritton are each serving five year prison sentences for their treatment of the girl, including forcing her to largely stay in a basement, with cameras and motion sensors monitoring her movements, and denying her food.

The charges against Drabek stem from the investigation into the girl's abuse by her father, Chad Chritton, and her stepmother, Melinda Drabek-Chritton.

Joshua Drabek has pleaded not guilty.
