Area colleges offering free financial aid help

MADISON (WKOW) -- For kids who are college bound, it's time to start thinking about financial aid.

And Madison College is offering free help for parents and students to get ready.

Families can get free, on-site professional assistance completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) over the next week at 29 campuses around the state. It's all part of the 2014 College Goal Wisconsin program, and not only will there be free help, but there will also be 22 $1,000 scholarships, 7 $500 scholarships, and 2 $250 scholarships given away.

Help is available: Feb. 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
                          Feb. 23rd at 2:00 p.m.
                          Feb. 26th at 6:00 p.m.

If you'll be applying for financial aid, you'll need the following items:
Social Security Number
Driver's License (If you have one)
Your alien registration or permanent resident card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
Date of birth
Parents' month and year of marriage, divorce or separation
2013 W-2, recent pay stub, or 2012 tax return
2013 Federal income tax return
Information on savings, investments, business assets and farm assets (if applicable)
