New Madison teen shelter holds ribbon cutting ceremony

MADISON (WKOW) -- A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday for a new youth shelter in Madison.

Youth Services of Southern Wisconsin is opening the new facility in March. Dane County Executive Joe Parisi and State Assemblywoman Melissa Sargent were a part of the ceremony. 

The new building will more than double the space for the Briarpatch Runaway and Homeless Youth Program, Youth Job Center and other services. The shelter will also provide a place for runaway and homeless youth in Dane County. 

The new building will be located at 2720 Rimrock Road. The main building will open in March, and the shelter will open at a later date after funding is complete.
