MADISON (WKOW) -- Crews are already working on area roads as a winter storm heads into southern Wisconsin.

The City of Madison Streets Department and the Dane County Highway Department both have crews out salting and sanding early Thursday. Crews have the minimum amount of trucks out now until traffic picks up.

There are no major accidents to report in Dane County, but our authorities have noticed roads are already slick as mostly rain has fallen, but is freezing in some places. Sidewalks are also slick.

Crews in Rock and Jefferson Counties are working on the main roads.
