MADISON (WKOW) -- In order to satisfy a state budget mandate the Wisconsin DNR has identified 33 properties for possible sale. The mandate calls for the agency to sell 10,000 acres by mid-2017.
Officials say that the parcels are located in 23 counties and cover about 2,550 acres. The criteria for choosing land for possible sale includes whether it's outside an existing project, lack of public access and lack of recreational or biological value. The 33 properties identified are still being assessed to see if they fit that criteria.
Reviews are set to wrap up around March 1st. The DNR board is expected to approved parcels for sale in May, and they will hit the market this summer.
