Wind Advisory until 3:00 p.m. Friday

MADISON (WKOW) --- A Wind Advisory is in effect until 3 PM for much of southern Wisconsin. The High Wind Warning has been discontinued, but strong winds will continue to blow throughout much of the day. Sustained winds will blow at 20-30 mph, with some gusts over 40 mph through mid-morning.

North-south roads will be most hazardous to travel due to the strong WSW winds. Keep two hands on the wheel today, and give high-profile vehicles a little more room.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through noon for Juneau, Adams, Crawford, Grant, and Richland counties, mainly for blowing snow.


MADISON (WKOW) --- A Winter Weather Warning is in effect for Crawford and Grant Counties until 6 a.m. on Friday.

A powerful winter storm will be moving north northeast from the central Plains to the upper peninsula of Michigan further north northeast Friday. Light snow and strong winds are expected overnight in southern Wisconsin.

A Winter Weather Advisory for light snow and blowing snow is in effect through noon Friday for Adams, Columbia, Crawford, Grant, Green Lake, Juneau, Marquette, Richland and Sauk counties.

There's also a High Wind Warning for much of the viewing area, including Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Green, Green Lake, Iowa, Jefferson, Lafayette, Marquette, Rock, Sauk and Walworth counties. It's in effect until 9 a.m. Friday.

This storm will have an impact on travel across the region, with travel becoming hazardous into Friday morning. Those with travel plans during this time should prepare for the conditions.
