Madison man arrested after threatening St. Mary's Hospital staff

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A 22-year-old Madison man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly making threats to kill security staff at St. Mary's Hospital.

Initially, Bo Penman was at the hospital with a family member seeking treatment.  Just after 1:00 a.m., he began to create a disturbance, security staff escorted him outside.  Witnesses say Penman then threatened to "beat up" security, that is why police were originally called.  When officers arrived, Penman was in the ambulance bay.  He was then given a ride home by an officer.

Around 2:20 a.m., Penman returned to the hospital making threats to security, this time saying he was getting a shotgun.  Madison police were alerted and called to the facility again.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m., with the help from a staff member, police were able to identify a suspicious vehicle which had been circling the hospital.

Penman was found inside the vehicle and was taken into custody.  Officers discovered shotgun shells in Penman's pockets and a shotgun in the trunk.  Penman was arrested for 2 counts each of disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.
