EVANSVILLE (WKOW) -- Authorities in Rock County are looking for a man they say robbed a pharmacy in Evansville.

Police were first called to Evansville Family Health Pharmacy on W. Main Street around 2:20 p.m. Monday.

A sergeant from the Evansville PD was nearby and chased the suspect to a home on S. Madison Street. Police say the suspect went into the home and police surrounded it. One of the pursuing officers recognized the suspect as 56-year-old Paul Engel, a man who lived at the residence.

Eventually police searched the home and Engel was not there. Officers believe Engel got out the back door when he was initially chased into the home.

Around 4:45 p.m., police received a report of a stolen, white 1996 Buick Park Avenue in the nearby town of Union. Police believe Engel may have stolen the car and they are now actively searching for it. The car has a black top from Landmark Services and a license plate of 787-HBH. A picture of a similar car is posted on the left side of this page.

Anyone with information about Engel's whereabouts should call the Rock County Communications Center at 608-757-2244.
