Video captured as a family photo turns frightening, family members injured

INDIANA (WKOW) --- A family is trying to spread awareness about deck safety after a frightening deck collapsed while taking a family photo.

A Christmas party in December took a turn for the worst when the family gathered on a deck for a family photo.   That clubhouse deck came crashing down with two dozen family members falling 15 feet to the ground.

The family is now suing the deck builder and the Homeowners Association that runs the clubhouse where it happened.

Family says three people are still not walking, while others are more fortunate like a 13-month-old baby who escaped because dad clutched her in his arms as they fell.  Another man can be seen pushing a bench with his arm keeping the bench from crushing those below.

As for the Indiana family, they are starting a public awareness campaign to teach deck safety using You Tube.   This family says there are warning signs you can look for that they did not notice.
