Bill would create Wisconsin Beer Commission

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A new bill aims to provide a boost to Wisconsin's craft brewing industry.

The bill, written by Republican Gary Tauchen is currently being circulated for co-sponsorship in the legislature. It would create a Wisconsin beer commission focused on the marketing, research and promotion of beer produced in Wisconsin, similar to the state's milk marketing board.

The seven member commission would been overseen by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

Tauchen says he hopes in hold a hearing on the bill during the next legislative session.
