Badger women's hockey opens WCHA playoffs with win

MADISON, Wis.  The No. 2-ranked Wisconsin women's hockey team blanked Minnesota State, 4-0, Friday night at LaBahn Arena in the opening game of their WCHA first-round playoff series.
 
Senior goaltender Alex Rigsby made 26 saves in the win to earn her sixth shutout of the year.
 
Four different Badgers scored as Sarah Nurse, Madison Packer, Sydney McKibbon and Katy Josephs all found the back of the net.
 
Wisconsin was 1-of-3 on the power play while killing both of its penalties.
 
The Badgers outshot MSU 43-26, which included a 17-5 shots on goal advantage in the final period.
 
The two teams meet again tomorrow in a 7 p.m. tilt at LaBahn Arena.
