PLATTEVILLE, Wisconsin (WKOW) – The UW-Platteville College Republicans teamed up with the Grant County GOP to host a Lincoln Day Dinner on Sunday at the campus's Ullsvik Hall.
The event featured Gov. Scott Walker as the keynote speaker. Other Republicans seeking to be elected this November also spoke to the crowd.
“There are just a bunch of people running for office in 2014 that are speaking,” said Caitlin Thomson, Chair of the UW-Platteville College Republicans.
“Everyone gets a taste of the campaign to come,” she added.
Thomson said it's often easier for voters to get to know candidates at events held earlier in an election year, such as Sunday's dinner. She said the hustle and bustle of campaign events as November nears often does not allow for a lot of personal time between candidates and voters.
