CHILTON (WKOW) -- For many Wisconsinites, Vern's Cheese is a household name. However, few people know the history of this family-owned business.
Vern and Edith Knoespel started their cheese distribution business out of their home often using their own vehicle to deliver Wisconsin's finest cheeses. "We started out with one truck years ago, and I was the only one who worked six days a week," Vern remembers. "Years ago when we first started I never expected I guess to go this far and stuff like this."
The Knoespels' no longer work from their home using their car for deliveries. With their business expanding and growing over the years, their children and grandchildren are now helping.
"We've got three generations," says Kelly Kress. "Mom and dad started it fifty years ago. There's four of us for the second generation, two son in laws, and then my niece is the third, full-time, generation."
Born into the business, the Knoespel children each have their own area of expertise in the family business, and they are proud of the business relationships their parents have forged. Moreover, after fifty years, the Knoespels' will continue to keep their tradition of quality service!
