MADISON (WKOW) -- The state's Building Commission approved several projects Wednesday, including the expansion of the Department of Justice's Madison Crime Lab.

The expansion will accommodate the DNA Databank Program.

Here are a few of the other projects approved by the commission:
  • Maintenance and repairs of various facilities at Blue Mound State Park in Iowa County, Richard Bong State Recreational Area in Kenosha County and Northern Highland American Legion State Forest in Oneida County
  • Construction of Alumni Park and phase two of the Memorial Union Renovation project at UW-Madison
  • Construction of the Student Success Center addition to Laurentide Hall at UW-Whitewater
"Today, with my support, we were able to move forward a number of important projects in all areas of the state," said Governor Scott Walker in a statement.  "Members of the Building Commission worked hard to ensure the projects we approved today make efficient and effective use of taxpayer funds."
