Horse is rescued after falling in well

Posted: Updated:
SHAWANO CO. (WKOW) -- The Grant Fire Department rescued a horse Wednesday morning after it partially fell through a well in the owner's yard.

The horse was stuck in the well for about five hours before being rescued. The owner Tonia Pagryzinkski said the horse normally sees the cover on the well and stays away.

"With all the snow it was pretty much buried and he made three steps over and that last leg just caught it right and he went straight down," said Pagryzinkski.

At least ten people used hoses, chains and a tractor to rescue the 1,500 pound horse. Other than a few minor scrapes, the horse's owner says he escaped with no serious injuries.

For this Shawano County horse all's well that ends well.
