An old hardware store will re-open as a library

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A building that was once a hardware store, will soon be a brand new library. Work began Wednesday morning at the former Ace Hardware on Raymond Road.

The Madison Public Library Foundation held a construction kickoff. Executive Director of the Foundation says this will be the home of the $1.7 million Meadow Ridge Library project.

"We're grateful that the city saw this not a problem to be fixed, but instead an opportunity to be taken. We're grateful the city has made a very significant investment to make this project happen, and happen in a speedy manner," said Jenni Collins.

The project will include a trio of new spaces, featuring a computer lab, a large meeting room, and a community kitchen that will host after school programs and workshops.

The library is scheduled to open in December.
