Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- A new fishing advisory group, Wisconsin Fisheries Advisory Council, has been formed by the Department of Natural Resources and the Conservation Congress.

16 members from fishing and tourism organizations including Walleyes for Tomorrow and Trout Unlimited make up the Advisory Council. Its duty is to advise the DNR's fisheries management board and the congress on statewide issues ranging from DNR's long-term fisheries plan to balancing angler's competing interests.

The first council meeting is set for March 29th at the Mead Wildlife Area visitor's center near Steven's Point. Items on the agenda include discussion of statewide planning efforts for panfish, trout, sturgeon, and walleye.
