Gov. Scott Walker releases first TV ad in Governors race

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Gov. Walker launches his first TV ad Friday against challenger Mary Burke's message that unemployment has gone up under his watch.

The Republican incumbent launched his ad the same day that Burke was running her initial spot. Both campaigns say the ads are running in multiple markets.

Burke's campaign says that they are spending six figures on their ad, while the Walker campaign would not released their figures.

Walker's TV spot takes aim at Burke's claims that unemployment has gone up under Walker. Unemployment numbers were at 7.8 percent when Walker took office and its currently at 6.3 percent now.

However, when Burke was Wisconsin's commerce secretary between 2005 and 2007 unemployment never went higher than 4.8 percent.
