Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) --- March 7, 2014 marks National Cereal Day.

Cereal was made in the mid 1800's because it was believed the American diet was consumed by too much meat.  Cereals then were bland in taste and had to be soaked overnight to be easier to eat.

By 1939,the first sweetened cereal, Ranger Joe Popped Wheat Honnie appeared in grocery stores.
