AnchorBank apologizes to customers who got wrong mortgage statement

MADISON (WKOW) -- AnchorBank is offering an apology to approximately 175 customers who received the wrong mortgage statements, and is also offering them one year of fraud protection.

An AnchorBank spokesperson blamed the mistake on a mailroom malfunction.

The statements included loan information, but did not include checking, saving or Social Security numbers.

Here is the statement from AnchorBank:
In February, one of AnchorBank’s mailroom machines malfunctioned while it was processing monthly mortgage statements, resulting in erroneous statements being mailed to a small group of AnchorBank mortgage customers.

AnchorBank has approximately 175 documented cases of incorrect mortgage statements being mailed to customers as a result of this issue.  The statements contained at least one page of the customer’s own mortgage statement, and at least one page from another AnchorBank customer’s mortgage statement.

The statement contained limited information, including mortgage number, loan balance, payment amount or the prior month’s payment confirmation.

The mailings did not include checking or savings account information, general banking account information, social security numbers or other identifying information.

We have, however, offered customers concerned about the mailing complimentary identity theft monitoring for peace of mind.

We have many procedures in place to prevent this type of error from occurring, and are in the process of implementing additional technologies to ensure the continued and complete protection and privacy of our customers.

We apologize, sincerely, for any concern or inconvenience this has caused for our impacted customers.
