Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- TDS Telecommunications says it has repair teams working on fiber optic lines severed in a construction accident Friday in Madison, near the intersection of the Beltline and Gammon Road.

The is no immediate timetable for full restoration of services. But in a Facebook post around 11:30 a.m. Friday, TDS said the damage will take several hours to repair. In the meantime, the telecommunications company is looking for alternate routes to provide telephone, internet and television services to its customers.

TDS says customers do not need to call in to report their outage.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports the outage impacted 50-thousand students, including customers on Madison's west side and in Middleton. The latest TDS Facebook post says customers in Verona, New Glarus, Monroe, Monticello, Juda, and Albany, are impacted.
