MADISON (WKOW) -- UW-Madison students were dancing for a cause Saturday night.

Wisconsin Dance Marathon hosted an event called madiThon at the Memorial Union on campus. Students began dancing at 12 p.m. today and continued to dance until 12 a.m.

Students are raising money to recognize the struggle that patients and families face at the American Family Children's Hospital every day.

"This is the sixth year in Wisconsin, however it's pretty popular in other campuses. So we use this as a building year but were really aiming to catch up to some of the Big Ten schools that are raising millions," said Merideth Wesley, Junior Director of Wisconsin Dance Marathon.

Each student participating in the event aimed to to raise $100 dollars for the cause.
