TOWNSHIP OF SPRINGFIELD (WKOW) -- Two people are injured after a two-car accident that happened on US-12 and County Highway P in the township of Springfield, near Waunakee around 7:20 a.m. Sunday.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Praneeth Palety from Madison did not see 43-year-old Vaewpheth Seignarack from Waunakee slowly accelerating after his light turned green.  Palety hit Seignarack's vehicle "from behind at highway speeds."

Seignarack was transported by Med Flight with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.  Palety went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials say both were wearing seatbelts which helped reduce the injuries.

Paley was cited for inattentive driving.
