Wisconsin Firefighter killed in snowmobile crash

Posted: Updated:

WHEATON (WKOW) -- A snowmobile crash claimed the life of a firefighter in Northwestern Wisconsin over the weekend.

20-year-old Brandon Semingson was killed late Friday night. According to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department, Semingson had been traveling with a group of 3 friends when he lost control and hit a tree.

Authorities say speed and not being familiar with the trail appear to be factors in the crash. They do not believe alcohol was involved.

But that was not the case in a different snowmobile accident, also in Chippewa County this weekend. Officials say 54-year-old Patrick Miller was airlifted to the hospital after losing control and hitting a tree.

There is no word on the extent of his injuries.

The Sheriff's Department say speed and alcohol both appear to be factors. Miller and the people he was traveling with were arrested for operating while intoxicated.
