UPDATE: Early morning fire at south Madison Burger King causes $60,000 in damages

MADISON (WKOW) --- The Madison Fire Department reports an early morning fire at the Burger King on Badger Road caused approximately $60,000 damage in the kitchen area.

Employees noticed the fire while preparing to open Monday morning.   The fire was near the deep fryer.  Staff did try to extinguish the fire, but then had to evacuate.
People passing by called 911 to report the smoke and flames coming from the roof.

Firefighters responded within 5 minutes of the call and pulled a hose into the back door to put the fire out.  They also pulled down ceiling tiles and cut a ventilation hole in the roof to put out the fire in the attic area.

The Badger Road Burger King will be closed for cleaning and repairs.

No injuries were reported.


MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison firefighters handle an early morning fire at a south side Burger King.

It happened at the restaurant in the 700 block of West Badger Roads just after 4:30 a.m. Monday. The fire department says it started in the kitchen.

Fire was showing from the roof and there was smoke throughout the building. The fire was put out and the building cleared of smoke quickly.
