Marinette Marine to add 200 jobs

Posted: Updated:
MARINETTE (WKOW) -- Marinette Marine plans to add 200 jobs in the next 6 months for its ship building program, despite calls from the Department of Defense to cut back on the number of ships being built.

The company says it's going to focus on the ships it needs to build now, not on the contract proposal.

Its current littoral combat ship contract will keep workers building through at least 2018.

Marinette Marine also plans to add about 100 employees each year for the next several years to offset retirements.
