Elk Mound teenager saves family from burning home

DUNN COUNTY (WKOW) -- An Elk Mound teenager is being called a hero after rescuing his family from a burning home Tuesday morning.

The fire was first reported at 1:30 a.m. Elk Mound Fire Chief says a 15-year-old boy heard the smoke alarm and quickly woke up his seven younger siblings and mother.

Two of the children were treated for smoke inhalation.

The Chief says the fire started in the basement and spread into the first floor of the home. Damage is estimated at more than a $100,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
