Drones for farming

Posted: Updated:
OSHKOSH (WKOW) -- The future of farming in Wisconsin may rely on the sky, or what's in the sky.

Precision Drones demonstrated its drones to farmers in Oshkosh on Wednesday.

The idea is to save farmers time by using drones to fly above their fields to see which areas are growing well or poorly.

One cabbage farmer from Shiocton says he plans to buy one of the drones, saying it covers in 15 minutes what takes him four to five hours.

The drones cost $15,000 each.

There are some limitations; staying under 400 feet, no flying at night and you have to get clearance if you live within three miles of an airport.
