MADISON (WKOW) - A UW Police official says a long-time policeman and member of the department's command staff was fired Wednesday.

Spokesperson Marc Lovicott says Capt. Peter Ystenes was terminated, as an internal investigation continues.

A statement from UW Police states the probe is in connection to "...misuse of camera and computer equipment."

Records show Ystenes has been with the department for eighteen years.He served as a co-chair of UW-Madison's threat assessment team, a group tasked with developing strategies and collecting intelligence to try to prevent any campus threat, such as an active shooter situation.
