MADISON (WKOW) - A UW Police official says a long-time policeman and member of the department's command staff was fired Wednesday.

Spokesperson Marc Lovicott says Capt. Peter Ystenes was terminated, as an internal investigation continues.

A statement from UW Police states the probe is in connection to "...misuse of camera and computer equipment."

Records show Ystenes has been with the department for eighteen years. He served as a co-chair of UW-Madison's threat assessment team, a group tasked with developing strategies and collecting intelligence to try to prevent any campus threat, such as an active shooter situation.
