80% of Obamacare premiums are paid in Wisconsin

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance reports that 80 percent of Wisconsin residents who purchased insurance plans through the federal marketplace have paid their premiums.

OCI released the numbers Friday afternoon, which show 37,782 of the 47,062 people who bought plans with coverage beginning February 1st or earlier are now paid up in full.

That represents a large increase from two months ago, when OCI officials said only about half of the people enrolled for coverage beginning January 1st had paid their premiums at that point.

OCI reports an additional 7,885 people signed up for individual health insurance plans outside of the federal marketplace during the same period.
