Thousands run annual Shamrock Shuffle

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- There was no shortage of green on State Street Sunday morning as thousands ran the annual Shamrock Shuffle.

The event included both a 5K and 10K run, as well as a two mile walk. The course began on State Street and wound through the UW-Madison campus and downtown area.

The Shamrock Shuffle is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County. The money raised goes toward health and wellness programs. CEO of the Dane County Boys & Girls Club Michael Johnson says support from the Shamrock Shuffle is vital.

"We do everything from sports and recreation, to our kids participating in nutritional programs," says Johnson. "Fundraisers like this help to support our kids and our local clubs.

Today marks the 11th year of the Shamrock Shuffle.
