Construction starts this week on select roads in Madison

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Construction starts this week on the Interstate 39/90/94 bridge deck at U.S. 151 in Dane County.

Three lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained in the work zone during the day with night time lane closures. Eastbound and westbound off ramps will be closed and detoured. There will be signs explaining the detours.

Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the $2.9 million dollar project will be done in August of this year.

A major traffic switch is also coming to Verona Road. Starting on Tuesday, all traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes of Verona Road between the Beltline and Raymond Road. Two lanes will remain open to traffic in each direction, but backups and delays are expected.

The west Beltline Frontage Road will be closed to through traffic starting on Tuesday. Drivers are asked to find another route between Britta Parkway and Whenona Drive. That construction is expected to last until July.
