Milwaukee businesses hope to score big with NCAA tournament

Posted: Updated:
MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The Badger basketball team isn't the only group with high hopes for this week's NCAA basketball tournament in Milwaukee.

Businesses there are are hoping to score big, too.

For example, a few blocks from where the games will be played, workers at Maders restaurant are busy.

They're already filling up with reservations and expect at least a 50% increase in business this weekend.

And it's not all about food and drink.

Harley Davidson expects extra crowds at their museum.

Between hotels, food and recreation, the NCAA tournament is expected to generate $4.6 million in Milwaukee this week.

Meanwhile, in the home of all the tournament action, crews are even busier.

The final floor planks are being placed at the BMO-Harris Bradley Center.

Officials are expecting a full house, especially Thursday morning when the Badgers play American University.

Hosting tournament games aren't an easy get.

It's been several years since March madness made Milwaukee home.

The next year up for grabs is 2016.
