Wisconsin FFA member serving a special collegiate honor

WISCONSIN (WKOW) -- Sam Tauchen is among a select few of individuals that get the honor of serving as a National Collegiate Agriculture Ambassador.

For Tauchen, agricultural education is a passion that he loves to share with others.

"The most rewarding thing for me is talking with either adults or students that aren't familiar with agriculture and they're like, 'oh my gosh, I didn't know that we have to produce more food than we have in the last 10,000 years combined'," said Tauchen

Sam was selected as one of twenty FFA members from throughout the country to serve on the 2013-2014 National Collegiate Agriculture Ambassador team by the National FFA Organization.

In front of a group of students at Cochrane-Fountain City High School, Sam lead a presentation about Bio-Technology.

Engaging and educating these future advocates of agriculture is something that Sam feels strongly about and his hope is to strengthen the industry for future leaders.

"I want them to find their niche and be able to say, 'Oh there's something available in agriculture.' Whether you want to be a bio-chemistry major or if you want to deal with communications, those are all needed," said Tauchen.
