70 votes including oral chemotherapy on the docket for WI State Assembly

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW)-- Finish with a bang. That's the idea behind a jam-packed last day of session for the Wisconsin State Assembly. The agenda for Thursday's flood session contains nearly 70 bills and resolutions.

Some of the major bills on deck include proposals that would limit in-person absentee voting hours, give cancer patients better access to less expensive chemotherapy pills, create private school accountability requirements and give lobbyists an extra seven weeks to contribute to lawmakers' campaigns.

The oral chemotherapy bill is drawing the most amount of attention from lawmakers after Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald attempted to use a procedural move to prevent senators from voting on it. The measure passed with a 30-2 vote on Tuesday. Several members from the assembly attempted to bring the bill to the assembly floor for a vote, but leadership ultimately decided to wait until Thursday.

Governor Walker has already publicly stated that if the bill is passed by the Assembly he would sign it into law.
