Drought conditions in parts of Wisconsin

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Despite higher than average snowfall this winter, almost half of Wisconsin is drier than normal.

The U.S. Drought Monitor reporter released Thursday says 44 percent of Wisconsin was experiencing abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions last week.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the dry areas are confined to the south, central and western parts of the state.

The overall drying trend was most notable across central Missouri and southwestern Wisconsin.

That area got less than 50 percent of normal precipitation over the past three months.
