Video of deputy nearly hit by skidding car a reminder to move over

Posted: Updated:
KENOSHA COUNTY (WKOW) -- Officials are reminding the public to be extra cautious when driving near pulled-over vehicles, after a deputy was nearly hit earlier this year.

Kenosha County Sheriff's Department posted a video on its Facebook page Sunday showing squad car footage of the incident. A deputy was walking back to his squad after helping a stranded driver on Highway 31 in January. Officials say if he had been walking just a few seconds earlier, he would have been struck. The video shows a car flying by just feet from the deputy and skidding out of control off the road.

Authorities ask drivers to use caution when road conditions are not ideal, and always move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles.
