Multiple cows re-homed from Iowa County property after 11 animals found dead

Posted: Updated:
Town of Arena (WKOW) --- Iowa County Sheriff Steve Michel tells 27 News, an anonymous tip helped save malnourished animals on a property in the Town of Arena.

The Sheriff's office received a tip on March 1 about possible animal neglect.  Two deputies went to the property on Amacher Hollow Road where they found 10 dead cows and one dead pig.

Also on the property were 28 cattle still alive, but very malnourished.  Sheriff Michek says family helped get the cows proper feed while the Iowa County Humane Society helped re-home the animals.

Currently the property owners are working with authorities to properly bury the dead animals.

The county will forward their reports to the D.A.'s office to determine if any charges will be made.   No arrests have been made in this case.
