Nissan recalling nearly 1-million vehicles for faulty airbags
DETROIT (WKOW) -- Nissan is recalling approximately 990,000 cars, SUVs and minivans in the U.S. because the front passenger air bags may not inflate in a crash.
The recall is expected to begin in mid-April and affects the following vehicles: Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder, and Sentra from model years 2013 and 2014. Also included are the NV200 Taxi van and Infiniti JX36 SUV from 2013. The Infiniti QX50 SUV from 2014 will also be covered.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been told the vehicles' computer software may not detect an adult in the passenger seat. If that happens, air bags won't inflate.
Nissan will be notifying owners of the recall and dealers will update the software for free.
